GEM East Midlands & Museum Development East Midlands - Thu 27 July 2017
Strategies for welcoming visitors and students with ASD and ADHD
National Civil War Centre - Newark Museum
Thursday 27 July 2017, 09.30 - 16.00

Access in Mind will be delivering a one day workshop looking at strategies to improving access to setting facilities and activities for people with ASD, ADHD and sensory processing difficulties. This training day will include recognising characteristics, understanding the effect of the environment on sensory processing and managing challenging behaviour.

Claire Jackson and Juanita Lendon from Access in Mind are qualified teachers, with more than 20 years experience each, of supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). They will be providing their expertise to help you make your museums more accessible to visitors with ASD, ADHD and sensory processing difficulties.

Due to the support of Museum Development East Midlands this event is free for both GEM members and non-members. Priority booking will be given to those from Accredited museums or working towards Accreditation.

In light of the current economic (and political) climate GEM North East is hosting a conference to showcase innovative ways cultural organisations in the North East have successfully fundraised through their learning programmes. GEM North East hopes that delegates will leave the conference with ideas on how they can increase fundraising in their working practice.
