The Government’s increasing emphasis on basic skills acquisition by adults is redefining how museums can support existing and new audiences. To help us identify how the region’s museums can meet this expanding agenda we will explore examples of good practice and examine potential for provision within our own services/venues/resources.

2:00 Old Treasures New Voices Exhibition
An opportunity to explore this Arts Council funded exhibition of adult writers’ works where objects have been used as the inspiration to produce the exhibition audio tour and anthology.

2.45 Are you a follower of fashion?
Northampton Museums holds one the region’s two nationally important designated collections – in this case, shoes! In this final afternoon session you can choose to explore the fantastic shoe galleries ‘Followers of Fashion’ and ‘Life & Sole’, take a tour of the museum’s store, take the opportunity to discuss adult learning opportunities with Essex Havard or simply network with you regional colleagues.
