An introduction and update on the LOtC Manifesto, Fenella Hunt, Heritage Coordinator, Learning Outside the Classroom. GEM

Case studies from the South West including archives and museums.

Workshops and discussion opportunities.

Resources to create a LOtC Action Plan.
By the end of the course participants will have:

Improved their knowledge and understanding of LOtC and how it should benefit the heritage sector.

Explored how its implementation will affect their organisation and services.

Learned how to make the most of LOtC to improve their services to learners.

Been made aware of the resources available to support LOtC, its links to other initiatives and associated reports.

Group for Education in Museums
GEM’s aim is to promote the importance of learning through museums, galleries
and other cultural organisations. GEM membership has many benefits including a
yearly conference, regional training, publications and an excellent informal
support network. This training day is one of three organised each year in the
South West.
Strategic Commissioning
Strategic Commissioning is a programme of additional funding from Department of
Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Department of Children, Schools and
Families, routed via the MLA partnership, to promote the ability of museums and
archives to develop and extend their relationships with schools. For more
