Young People & Heritage

Focus Study & Network Day

Friday 10 September

Delegates have the option of either
(a) going to a practical workshop on performance techniques
or
(b) exploring the Tower of London and the learning that takes place there.
This day is an excellent opportunity to improve your practical skills and find out more about best practice in heritage education as well as to network with others passionate about learning.

PROGRAMME
Hampton Court Palace

09.00 –  15.00
This practical workshop led by Adrian Tissier, National Trust, will provide a practical introduction to performance techniques - including use of voice and body, movement and working with text.

Delegates will have the opportunity to explore how they can use these techniques to enhance the delivery of everyday learning activities; as well as understanding whether, when and why outside expertise is necessary.

They will also receive practical training in storytelling – one of the most transferable live interpretation techniques and often the most effective at bringing learning for all ages to life.

Learning at the Tower of London
09.00 – 15.00
Delegates will be accompanied by Historic Royal Palace education staff to the Tower of London.

They will spend the day exploring the site and the learning projects and programmes that take place there.

For delegates staying at Strawberry Hill, transport to Hampton Court Palace or the Tower of London will be provided, but delegates will need to make their own onward transport arrangements from there for the end of the day.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

There are only 50 places for each of these events, so book early! Priority for these places will be given to delegates attending the whole conference.
