Are you seeking a professional looking for work in the heritage sector? If so, you’ve come to the right place! GEM’s Find a Job page features employed, contracted and volunteer opportunities across the sector, which are viewed mostly between 500 and 1,500 times.

Our advertisers are very enthusiastic and complimentary about our rapid service. They often remark that they’ve advertised in other (more expensive) places but have not been successful in filling a vacancy until coming to GEM.

All recruitment ads are shared (twice) on our active and popular Twitter feed @GEM_heritage to more than 5,000 followers interested in museum and heritage education. Ads are also featured in our monthly eNews which is sent to all GEM’s members usually on the last working day of each month.

Your ad will go live quickly too. If your ad is not listed within one working day of receipt, it’s free!

GEM members pay just £99 for an ad. The non-member rate is £169 but you can join GEM and get the member’s rate straight away!

Print advertising


We offer a wide range of opportunities for people to raise their profile and advertise their goods and services in GEM publications, with a readership of around 6,500. We offer space in several of our specialist heritage education publications throughout the year including the annual Journal of Education in Museums and Case Studies twice a year.

By advertising in a sponsored eBulletin, your information is directly sent to our diverse membership base of heritage sector professionals, giving your event, service or other opportunity maximum immediate exposure to those it would be of most interest to. 

It's simple too!  Just send us the full text & images(size limits apply) which you would like distributed, and we can email it out to GEM members within three working days of receipt.

It's only £56 for GEM members and £97 for non-members (price per ebulletin).

Freelance Listings

The GEM Freelance Network was founded in 1996 and is a great way to raise your profile as a freelancer within the heritage sector. GEM members can be added to the list for £75. For more information please visit our Freelance Network page on our website.

Why do we charge?

Firstly, we feel it’s an opportunity for members to advertise their goods and services to their fellow GEM heritage sector professionals. By providing members with another platform to reach all other members, we hope to support the membership further by facilitating exchange – which is why all members get a discount on all our advertising opportunities! GEM freelancers who pay for a listing on the website get a further 10% discount on print advertising.

Secondly, it serves as a way of generating some much-needed income for GEM, which is exactly what we need in order to be able to keep membership subscription fees as low and affordable as possible.

We are determined that no advertising will be to the detriment of the publications' content, which will always take priority, hoping instead to increase their value to you through this added dimension.
